Day 1 · 08:00

This is the mirror: your path and the ground your walking tends, and nothing more. Home goes back to the grove, where journeys start and end.

To walk in this prototype, tap the map, drag from the wisp to draw a route, or use Simulate. Drag elsewhere to look around; pinch or scroll to zoom.

Walked cells and the cells your motes can reach turn green. Nature spreads a little, and tended ground fades over days unless you walk it again. Walks loads recorded walk files.

Tap the map to walk there, or drag from the wisp to draw a route. Moving always helps the grove; a walk you start and end also gets a card and a recap.

Recorded walks

Each walk starts at this world's made-up origin. Walks play in the order they started, with the days between them passing, so repeated routes stack up. Gaps in the data are dashed and are not tended. Raw-coordinate files are converted to metres as they load; their coordinates are never shown or kept.

Layers

Each one can be turned off. They are drawn bottom to top as listed, and remembered for next time.

Tended effects are the grass, the flowers and the warm rim on cells walked today. Leads are the soft glows where a lead lies on ground you have walked, and trips are the motes travelling out to one and back. Tread is the worn ground along every route you have walked, about 5 m either side (the GPS error), darker where you have walked more often. Routes are the coloured lines of each walk, and Notes the pins and the start and end marks.

Cells

50 m

Size is the distance across a cell. After a change, the loaded walks play again on the new cells by themselves. Reach (one ring of neighbours) grows and shrinks with the cells.

Debug

World seed (per player)

Same street, different seed, different world. Your walks are replayed onto a world you have not seen yet.

Cells

0.32
2

Jitter and relax steps shape organic cells only.

Changing size, jitter, relax or latitude makes a different world (kept separately; come back and it is still there).

Time

Speed of this device

Zooms all the way out and back over this world (about 3 seconds) and times every frame. Smooth is 16.7 ms a frame.
